Frequently Asked Questions

Where do you live?

I grew up and currently live in Manhattan, New York

Where did you go to school?

I graduated with a BFA in Film/Animation/Video from RISD (Rhode Island School of Design)

Where can I see your work?

My reel and some previous projects are on website, www.darianbrenner.com

Where did you get all that stuff in your old apartment?

I bought all my furniture at Salvation Army obscenely cheap and then I painted it! As for the toys and things like that… most of it is stuff I’ve had since I was really little. I’ve just amassed a large collection of junk over my lifetime.

Where do you shop for clothes?

When I have time I like to alter second-hand clothes. But as far as stores, I like H&M (peep the accessories in the kid’s section!) and stores in Soho like Necessary Clothing and Topshop. Forever21 is kinda hit-or-miss.

Some etsy shops I love are I’m Your Present, My Darling Frankenstein, Martha Rotten, Creepyyeha, and Her Tiny Teeth.

What video camera & lenses do you have?

I own a Panasonic AG-AF100 and my lenses are Lumix 14-140mm, Lumix 20mm, and Olympus 45mm

What still-camera do you have?

It’s a Nikon D5000 and my lenses are Nikon AF-S 18-55mm and Nikkor 40mm

What are some of your favorite movies?

I love so many different kinds of movies, and this list could go on forever. If you want me to recommend movies I’d do better if you asked by category, but here are some good ones in general:

Beetlejuice, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Lolita, Rosemary’s Baby, Repulsion, Belle du Jour, Jacob’s Ladder, Shame, Sid and Nancy, Day for Night, Heathers, Death Proof, Harold & Maude, American Psycho, Perfume, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?, Where the Wild Things Are, Pan’s Labyrinth, Cry Baby, Marie Poupée, Carrie, Jumanji, Buffalo 66, Gremlins, Fearless Vampire Killers, The Master, Argo, Drive, The Believer, The Artist, Jurassic Park

What are some of your favorite *scary* movies?

I HATE aliens, so basically any alien movie will freak me out but the ones that come to mind are Signs, The Fourth Kind, Alien, and Cloverfield. Other obvious classics like Carrie, The Shining, and The Fly. I also like some Japanese horror because it tends to be more psychological—Audition, Ringu and Ju-On series, Hausu is bad-ass.  Also check out the Spanish REC films
