Anonymous ASKED: hey which art classes did you take in high school and did you win any competitions before you got into RISD?

i took a ton of art classes in high school because i went to Laguardia HS for Music & Art & Performing arts in NYC and i was an art major. i took like… basic drawing, oil painting, watercolor, anatomy drawing, illustration, sculpture, mixed media, printmaking & advanced printmaking, etc etc tons more as well as art history which is very important. i don’t know what kind of competitions you mean, i didn’t really enter any “art contests” or anything

lopunny ASKED: was it mentally exhausting to watch 5 films in one day haha

surprisingly it wasn’t that bad, you get into a rhythm of it. i mean of course i was physically and mentally exhausted but i was really excited for every movie i was seeing, i chose my tickets myself etc

gitchigitchiyaya ASKED: Did you happen to see John Dies at the End at Sundance?

i did see John Dies at the End…

i didn’t read the book, but from what i know it seems like the film was incredibly faithful to the literature, to a fault—because you can put books down and come back to them but you can’t really do that with a movie in a theater.

it was way too long. i think it would have been better if they split it into a trilogy of films, or even like a 6 part series with half-hour installments. the beginning was FUCKING AWESOME but i feel like they ran out of money or something because the effects & compositing later in the film were crap and they definitely rushed to finish, which made the confusing parts even more confusing. it was super disappointing as it is, but maybe it would be worth watching if the filmmakers revisited it and made it better. the acting/casting/most of the lighting was pretty on point.

lopunny ASKED: what was it like being at sundance?

during the few weeks of the festival, all of Park City gets overrun by sundance. there are only a few real theaters, so there are like libraries and temples that get converted to theaters just for the festival and the buses run for free and shuttle you around. i was waking up at 7 am, running around seeing 4 or 5 films a day and getting back to the lodge at like 3 am every day. also everyone is really friendly and always wants to talk to you, it can be entertaining or really annoying. it was nuts but so worth it. also it was really fucking cold, but the mountains were insanely gorgeous!!

andieexxx ASKED: oh my godness, did you see Matthew Gray Gubler there? :$

haha i wish!! all the casting in Excision was pretty nuts actually, and the director was really fucking cool, he may or may not be my soulmate/male counterpart. i saw him at a few other screenings during the week and exchanged lots of nervous glances but my sadly friends dragged me away before i could convince him he wanted my phone number chat with him

i feel like i was there for a month, i can’t sleep cuz i’m still getting off my sundance high

yosemitemery ASKED: Did you see any good movies at Sundance? Any that we should look out for? :)

YES- i saw a shitton of great films but these were some of my favorites, some of them i’m sure are getting picked up and will have major theater releases and others i’m not so sure. in rough order of preference:

  1. The Surrogate
  2. Grabbers
  3. Chasing Ice
  4. Red Lights
  5. Excision
  6. Bear (short film by Blue Tongue)
  7. The Pact
  8. Safety Not Guaranteed
  9. The Impostor
  10. China Heavyweight

Anonymous ASKED: How do you do your makeup? By that I mean what products do you use, for everything? O:

it’s pretty simple, i use MAC studio fix solid-powder compact in NC-15 for my face, some cheap loreal cream blush, cheap maybelline liquid eyeliner, the yellow tube of colossal volume mascara and rose vaseline balm on my lips
